Yemen Announces First Direct Flight from Socotra to Jeddah, Carrying 180 Tourists

Yemen’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Ma’mar Al-Eryani, announced on Wednesday the arrival of the first direct flight from Socotra Island to Jeddah, carrying 180 tourists
He described the flight as a “sovereign and significant operational step that reflects the success of government efforts and institutional coordination aimed at improving tourist services and enhancing international air connectivity with the Socotra Archipelago, establishing it as a unique global tourist destination
”Al-Eryani highly praised the efforts of Yemenia Airlines, led by Chairman Captain Nasser Mahmoud, in operating the flight, noting that it “is not merely an exceptional event, but represents a real start towards regular direct flights between Socotra and Jeddah in the coming days, opening broader horizons for international tourism and strengthening confidence in the national carrier and its role in supporting the economy and tourism
”He also emphasized that “this step marks the beginning of a broader plan to expand sustainable tourist travel to the archipelago, ensuring the preservation of Socotra’s unique environment, developing tourism and service infrastructure, and creating real developmental opportunities for its residents, according to a comprehensive national vision that respects the archipelago’s environmental and cultural uniqueness
”Al-Eryani expressed his “deep gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their cooperation and operational facilitation, which contributed to the success of this step, reflecting the strong fraternal relations between the two countries and their commitment to supporting stability and development in Yemen
